MESTIZOS is a Mexican restaurant located in Tucson, Arizona with a focus on traditional Mexican food with a modern style. The restaurant owner wanted to portrait the mestizaje culture in their identity, showcasing the mixing of two cultures and food in one iconic image.
LOGO CONCEPT
The idea was to create an identity that would reflect the mestizaje culture and its food tradition. By exploring some of the Maya symbols that represent food, and the history of Gonzalo Guerrero, who was the first Spaniard to raise three mestizo children in México. Taking into consideration that corn plays an essential part in the Mexican dishes, I wanted to emphasis on this Maya symbol as well as the fire symbol.
